Looking Deeper – Day 13: What’s Your Plan?
Today’s biblical W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L. Wife is Esther (Read Esther 4-7). She had a matter of great importance to discuss with her husband (King Xerxes), but the law of the land was that no one approached the King in his court unless summoned by him. She knew that she would be taking a risk, but she also knew that the discussion needed to happen. What’s a Queen to do???
In my bible the heading starting at Esther 4:15 reads, “Esther Plans to Intercede.” She had a plan and the first step of that plan was to get God’s direction and favor. She and everyone around her fasted for 3 days and nights before she approached the King. What was the result? The King not only granted her access to him, twice he said to her, “What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted to you. And what is your request? Even to half of the kingdom, it shall be done.” (5:4 & 7:2).
There is much more to Esther’s testimony, but what I’d like us to focus on is the fact that Esther planned how to approached her husband and most importantly that her plan included consulting God for direction. I don’t know about you, but many times I have approached my husband “in the moment” to discuss something important and then been upset by his response. When we take time to consult God first, we allow Him time to prepare our husbands to hear us, provide our husbands revelation that will lay the foundation for our conversation, as well as make clear to us how we should proceed.
Another key point is that Esther invited others to fast with her. There is power in coming together in the name of the Lord! As Jesus said in Matthew 18:19-20,
” Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
So don’t try to stand alone, your W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L. Wives sisters are here to pray, fast, and support you at every turn!
